Background
Sarmad has close to two decades of experience as a transfer pricing practitioner in the US and Canada. Prior to founding BakerBanbury, Sarmad was responsible for managing and monitoring the transfer pricing policies for Royal Bank of Canada’s global asset management business in key tax jurisdictions such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
He was also previously a Senior Manager with Grant Thornton where he was the subject matter expert for intercompany loans and hybrid instruments and disposition and licensing of intellectual property. While at Grant Thornton, Sarmad participated in primary and secondary research to provide litigation support for transfer pricing cases at the Tax Court of Canada.
Sarmad holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and has a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. He also completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Cornell University, graduating with Distinction. He was awarded the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management Scholarship. At Cornell, he focused on Corporate Strategy, Financial Markets, Economics, and Business Restructurings.
As part of his MBA, Sarmad also undertook extensive coursework at the Cornell Law School in Federal and International Taxation and Intellectual Property Law.

Background
Stefan is a distinguished economist and commercial leader with over two decades of specialized experience in the Oil & Gas sector. Renowned for his strategic economic insights and financial expertise, he has provided expert guidance on commercial deal structuring, economic forecasting, financial modeling, market analysis, and private equity transactions. Stefan began his career with leading consulting firms, Accenture and McKinsey & Co., before transitioning to senior roles with energy giants such as Chevron, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, and Qatar Petroleum. His extensive international experience spans Australia, Germany, Iraq, Qatar, Singapore, as well as the UK, USA, and UAE, where he has adeptly navigated diverse market dynamics to help clients achieve strategic objectives.
Stefan has played a pivotal role in both buy-side and sell-side transactions, leading comprehensive screening, due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiations. His accomplishments include managing high-stakes projects such as the construction of a 200 MW power plant in Iraq under challenging conditions and overseeing the planning of a major desalination project in the UAE.
As a CFO for principal investment and early-phase companies, Stefan leveraged his deep understanding of economic principles to enhance financial performance and ensure sustainable growth. His ability to blend economic theory with actionable financial strategies has made him a trusted advisor to senior executives across the energy sector.

Background
Jaipreet Singh Bindra leads digital technology innovation at University of Ottawa. He is an advisor to start-ups at Invest Ottawa (Ottawa’s leading economic development agency).
He is a cofounder of a blockchain start-up (https://gridsimple.com/).
He developed the business model for a new national service for Ernst&Young Canada. He was a senior commercialization manager for WORLDiscoveries, a technology transfer consortium consisting of 6 major universities and 4 research hospitals in Southern Ontario. He has extensive experience in analyzing early-stage technologies being developed in a wide spectrum of areas and implemented commercialization plans. He is co-founder of a start-up for medical student training. He also structured a SaaS based platform and conducted due diligence for the company prior to it being acquired by a major Canadian firm. He has presented at the House of Commons on Industrialization and Innovation. He has a MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance and has dual degrees in Computer Engineering and Economics from University of Western Ontario.
